I first saw this (or something very much like it) on a poster in an admin’s office in Altoona. It struck a chord with me, and I went looking for it tonight. This isn’t the exact version I remember, and I can’t find attributions for it. But it’s a good reminder for me:
Life is not a journey to the grave
With the intention of
Arriving safely in a pretty
And well preserved body,
But rather to skid in broadside,
Thoroughly used up,
Totally worn out,
And loudly proclaiming,
WOW !!!! What a ride!
